NYS Smokers' Quitline
Live tobacco free, NYS Smokers' Quitline can help. Free support and
free medications. Did you know NYS offers free starter kits of Nicotine
patches, gum or lozenges for eligible NYS smokers, we also provide
a trained Quit Coach who can help you make a quit plan, they can
provide you with information about local stop smoking programs. Need
additional support? Call 24-hours for support messages or call Mon.-Thurs. 9am-9pm, Fri.-Sun. 9am-5pm.
Wayne County Public Health

Information, resources and tools to help you quit smoking. Cessation
classes for adults are taught throughout the year at the Health Services
Building, Nye Road, Lyons, through Wayne County Public Health Service.
Classes can also be held at your work or meeting place. The program
that is used is the American Cancer Society's Fresh Start program,
which is designed to help participants stop smoking by providing
them with all of the essential information and strategies needed to
direct their own efforts at stopping. Fresh Start contains the elements
that have been found to be meaningful in helping smokers to stop and
stay off cigarettes; the program addresses the behaviors, thoughts, and
feelings of the smoker. It also makes use of group interaction to encourage
and support change. Participant objectives include: to understand
why we smoke and how it affects us and those around us., to master the
first few days without cigarettes, to master all obstacles to staying away
from cigarettes, to learn how to quit and stay smoke free.
