The American Association of Retired Persons offers or
endorses certain insurance plans to retirees and negotiates
discounts for seniors or its members. Reduced rates for
travel, air flight, hotel stays, and discounts in retail stores,
restaurants and theaters can help a retired person on a
smaller income still fully participate in leisure activities.
Publishes a bi-monthly magazine, called AARP: The Magazine,
which tends to address the problems common to those
over 50, and offers social or political suggestions to members.

with information on Food Benefits, Prescription Drub Benefits
and direct access to state specific assistance, and how to
gain access to it. All information is fast, private and secure.

The Senior Citizen Action Council (SCAC) is designed to meet the
needs of seniors on a state level. Bi-monthly meetings held at Alex-
Eligh Community Center. All seniors are welcome to attend and learn
and discuss services such as healthcare, heat and transportation.

The Wayne County Department of Aging & Youth participates
and promotes NYConnects as part of a statewide
initiative to provide a single, coordinated system for accessing
the spectrum of long-term care services. Longterm
care includes everything from home delivered meals
and transportation options to aide service and care at a
nursing home. We assess an individual.s needs, match these
needs with community resources, and assist the senior or a
family member with arranging appropriate services. Learn
about what levels of care are available, how to research
services and facilities, how to pay for long term care, and
other important issues. Services are provided at no cost.

Geriatric Services Program is a Free geriatric specialist
assessment for seniors age 65+ with unresolved chronic
diseases such as urinary incontinence, instability and falls,
HTN/Dizziness, syncope, osteoporosis, pressure ulcers,
sleep disorders, failure to thrive, and neuro-psychiatric disorders,
including dementia, delirium, depression, substance
abuse, nervous system disease, cerebrovascular disease
and Parkinson. This project provided by Wayne County
Rural Health Network brings the expertise of Geriatric
Consultive Services (GCS) at Rochester General Hospital
to Wayne County, thereby increasing access for elders to
geriatric specialists. GCS will provide direct clinical service
to referred elders in person or via a new telemedicine
site in a local Wayne County PCP office. WCRHN also
provides case management and individualized assistance
to any Wayne County resident who needs help.
