A non-profit organization that works with citizens, organizations, institutions,
government and businesses to advance environmental
sustainability, improve the water quality in the Lake Ontario Basin,
and address under-attended priority issues affecting environmental quality
in Upstate New York by: educating interested parties to increase
their understanding and appreciation of the issues, collaborating with
appropriate stakeholders to define problems and develop solutions and
facilitating the implementation of various initiatives/projects that the

The primary goal of Cool Rochester is to save money, energy and the
planet. Cool Rochester aims to help residents, businesses and municipalities
in the Greater-Rochester area reduce their collective carbon
dioxide emissions by 1 billion pounds by 2012. We intend to do this by
facilitating conversations about choices, disseminating detailed actionable
information, providing practical tools and unleashing the power of
community around a shared vision of a sustainable future for our children.
Cool Rochester is accepting new volunteer household members
everyday, work with our area and approximately 40,000 households in
and around Rochester and surrounding areas to reduce their annual carbon
footprint by 10,000 pounds per household (a total annual reduction
of 400 million pounds - 200,000 tons - of CO2.) Over a three yearperiod
this will reduce the carbon footprint of the Rochester, NY area
by over 1 Billion pounds . 500,000 tons . of CO2. This will be 10%
reduction of residential CO2 emissions. To save your school disctrict

Provides resources empowering citizens to improve the quality of life
